My name is Kailey Peckford (she/her) and I am a white settler raised in amiskwaciwâskahikan (ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ), colonially known as Edmonton, Alberta.
After working in sexual violence prevention across several Alberta universities, I noticed a critical gap: accessible, high-quality training for the broader community—especially workplaces—was largely missing. Much of the available sexual harassment training is superficial, designed to meet compliance requirements rather than to educate meaningfully. These programs often lack input from subject matter experts and ignore best practices in adult learning. Meanwhile, sexual assault centres offer excellent, research-informed training but are typically underfunded and overextended.
To bridge this gap, I founded For Better Consent Education in 2025. Our mission is to connect workplaces and organizations with evidence-based, engaging training on sexual violence prevention. With a background in sociology and research focused on public drinking establishments, I bring both subject-matter expertise and real-world insight to the development of our workshops. Drawing on years of facilitation and public speaking experience, I ensure each session is interactive, practical, and grounded in best practices for adult education.
